What is DrupalModules.com?
DrupalModules.com is a community powered rating and review service focused on helping you find the Drupal modules you need for your project. In addition to ratings and reviews, the site also features a powerful Module Finder, download statistics, a related module list (on every module page), and more!
What is Drupal? What are modules?
Drupal is a leading open source content management system. Modules are plug-ins for Drupal that provide it with an endless variety of new features, including image galleries, WYSIWYG editors, voting systems, organic groups, e-commerce capabilities, administration tools, and more.
Is this site part of Drupal.org?
No. DrupalModules.com is an independent community, striving to be the best free and open source of module reviews and information. We're also 100% unofficial, and not affiliated with Drupal Association or Dries Buytaert. All modules listed on this site are licensed under the GPL.
Who made this site?
I did. My name is John. I'm a web designer and programmer working out of Ottawa, Canada. I run a Drupal design service called Blamcast. I'm also a member of the Drupal Association. If you'd like to get in touch with me, my email is my first name at blamcast.net
Why did you make this site?
When I first started using Drupal, I was overwhelmed by the sheer number of modules available. Drupal offers many modules with similar features, and finding the best one for the job is often difficult.
So, In February of 2007, I set out to build a system to help Drupal developers find modules faster and easier. It turned out to be a lot more work than I originally thought, and the project was put aside in favor of other pursuits.
Then one day in October, I saw a survey posted by Dries, showing a strong community desire for exactly what I had been planning. My inspiration was renewed, and since that day, I have been working virtually non-stop to get this project completed.
What you see here is the result of over 1,000 hours of development work!
What's powering this site?
DrupalModules.com is built on Drupal 5. The review system is a custom module based on code from the NodeReview module. The rating graphs are generated via PEAR's Image_Graph library. I also use icons from the Tango Desktop Project.
This site is hosted on a dedicated server running FreeBSD, Apache 2, and MySQL. The XCache PHP opcode cacher is installed for improved performance.
