Sort Tools for Favourites (by Groups/Tags)
Dragon Elemental - May 8, 2008 - 11:15
Hiya John,
Firstly I'd just like to say that this site is awesome!
It looks great, is very functional & allows us to Favourite modules! (I currently have over 51 & I just joined less than 3 days ago! - LOL)
Okay, I just wanted to make a suggestion / feature request. We really need sorting capabilities for the favourites list. It is currently by date, & finding a module is difficult (unless we remember it's name & functionality exactly).
Firstly, You can easily add a sorting by name dropdown. Then I'm guessing that the sorting by group/tag will require you to program this into the site on a global scale, by defining tags/groups/types/categories for every module. Then we should be able to program something that can organise the modules by which group to belongs to...(e.g. Admin, Security, UberCart, AJAX, etc) & alphabetically at the same time (so it's divided up into separate blocks).
We could also take this further to implement this in AJAX to allow us to collapse/expand the separate blocks of the list, & make tiny buttons on the right for each module to 1. give us a direct download link (without having to open the module's own page, saving u resources, making the site faster), 2. delete the module from favourites, 3. etc...
I understand this is a relatively new site, so I'm sure you were planning to implement features like this sometime in the future.
Sorry if I sound like I'm demanding this, I'm really not! I'm just providing detailed suggestions & I actually would really like some of this functionality with this site.
Truth is, I'm a crazed bookmarking Addict, & although I'll just use your site to organise my Drupal modules, if I were to bookmark them in my Firefox, I can at least organise them into folders/sub-folders of my chosen categories, & then also give each module an informative description...
I look forward to seeing some of this functionality in future!
I'd love to help anywhere I can, but fyi, I'm just getting into Web Development (& Drupal too for that matter...) so please go easy on me! (Hopefully one day I'll be really useful...)
Thanx ^_^
