Drupal Modules

Links on D.O

What needs to be done in order to get links to DM and Code Search onto d.o? It seems like these two resources are way to powerful and useful for the general public not to know about them.

Theme Garden has a link (http://drupal.org/project). It seems only logical to place a link to DM in the 'modules' section.. and a link to Code Search in the development section of the handbook.

What needs to be done for this to happen?

Good point

That link to themegarden.org is somewhat surprising.

A few weeks ago, I added a link to the "contributed modules" handbook page, but it was deleted by someone within hours. I didn't receive an explanation.

Politics

Well, John - the deleting of your link may have political reasons. Did you completely sort out the - lets say conflict - with some people in the d.o. community?

For it is sure: also the drupal world is not a sea of peace. Having lots of traffic and Google trust at your site IS something that is of monetarian advantage to you, even if you do not exploit it.

So to me drupalmodules.com could be used as quasi-official site for module downloads as long as the redesign of d.o. is not finished. You have repeatedly expressed your willingness to integrate the funtionality into d.o.

But one thing cannot be forgotten: quoting your site as an official source would mean the community admits failure. Failure in creating module ratings and revamping the donwolad section on d.o. Personally I can understand both sites, and a definitely do not want to blame neither the guys that maintain project module nor the site administrators.

As always in drupal - if I complain, I'd better join the redesign team and scratch this itch. I don't as I concentrate on other projects.

So for the time being drupalmodules.com will be a resource for insiders and clever people. Personally I tell everyone to come here. Hopefully this will be taken care of in the redesign Group and no new conflict will arise.

Time, drupal and all the rest

Politics

I'm sure there are internal politics involved. It's unfortunate.

But, there are signs Drupal.org may be moving towards a more friendly approach to external community sites.
