This isn't as simple as the fbconnect module, but it's definitely much more powerful and flexible... which is part of the reason there are many issues in the queue. But nevertheless, I was able to set it up and customize to a basic level in under an hour. And the documentation at http://drupal.org/node/195035 is quite helpful.
1500 users and there are over 750 issues in the queue. And they are very very full too. A good indicator of what you will experience if you use this module. The documentation is written to keep people out, not help them in using this module.
