As much as I like the imagefield module for drupal 5.x, it simply cannot be compared to this work of genius. Simply put, the IMCE CCK image module is so easy to use, so versatile and flexible -- in short, so incredibly amazing -- that I predict it is destined to become one of the top ten drupal modules of all time. I cannot find the words to thank the developer for what is an outstanding contribution to the CCK family.
Non-technical users like to use a WYSIWYG and IMCE is what they are used to for inserting/uploading images. This module gives them CCK fields with the same interface.
