Nodewords + "Page Title"

Excellent module to set the desctription & keywords meta tags. But notice you have to use the "Page Title" module to set the page title tag.

Be wary of recommended version

Version 6.x-1.7 is still officially recommended even though there's an upgrade problem from earlier versions - see the issues. Has just been fixed with 6.x-1.x-dev however!

SEO brilliance

I humbly disagree with those who say this module is not critical for SEO. In my opinion it is, but you need to know (a) how to most effectively use it and (b) with what other modules to combine it for maximum synergy and search engine receptivity. The developer of this module deserves great praise for one important contribution to the family of third party drupal modules.

Very simple to use for incremental SEO benefits

This is a very simple module that does a very specific job, and it does it well.

We use this module on all our clients websites to allow us to customize their meta tags for each of their pages with ease. It's doesn't make a huge difference, but every little bit helps, especially in competitive industries.

A small drop in the SEO sea

I find the best option and the primary reason I add this module is for the meta description. I always like to set it, so any natural search engine results (specifically google) will show what I want, rather than a random excerpt from the page.

Often times when my meta description isn't set I'll see my taxonomy terms, or the first few lines of my page which don't always give enough info to the browser.

It is not the SEO holy grail but,

it helps. The module does what it promisses to do.
