I love phpfreechat, and would use this chat if it
worked. After the initial install I got into the chat and was even able to chat with another person. However later that day, all users reported a "Loading Chat ... Please Wait" that never went away! This is frustrating since this chat seemed to offer all of the features I wanted!
This program was easy to install and has lots of documentation. It is not flash based nor does it have streaming video!
This chat is AJAX based which is good because so many cheaper hosting services shouldnt have a problem with it. It also does not take up tons of resources (when its working).
I would love to see this module fixed. I would LOVE to use this module. But at this time the module is completely unusable!
EDIT: I ended up using FlashChat which has a non GNU plug-in in there forums. I wouldn't buy it, I bought the program and then got banned from the forums without a reason. I requested my Money back, but have not received it!
I really wanted this module to work, but as of now have spent far too much time to get it configured so that the chat window shows up on nodes. And now that it does, the chat does not work at all. The user names changes every few seconds, and chat does not get posted to the window.
I had problems with getting the "advanced" settings set properly, which were, contrary to the docs, all required in my case, and the error messages and "help" text are less than instructive.
I just installed it today, an am not having any problems. I can get to user profiles, the content scrolls fine. I'm on D6.10, version 1.1 of the module and 1.2 of phpfreechat. I have not tried more advanced features or parameters yet.
As it is now one can get only the basic functionality of the phpfreechat free code.
Integration in Drupal is not complete.
Private messages dont work.
Clicking the user profile doesnt work as it should.
And yes there is conflict with Google analytics.
More effort needs to be put on this module to make it fully operational.
And take seriously the need to uncomment the $base_url in settings.php otherwise this module will not work at all.
I wish the person that develops it isue a stable version fully functioning.
