This module allows users with the right access permissions to set group hierarchy. Echoing a previous review - this is an essential function to have in OG's - we need sub-groups. Whilst OG pledge to be ready for D7 this module is still in beta on D6.14 - The only activity that appears to happen is a debate about how to implement a hierarchy. Until there is a reliable and active means of implementing subgroups, and preferably one that is core to OG - we'll continue to use taxonomy access control.
The low ratings reflect the level of readiness in D6 - if using D5 the ratings would be high - it really is needed.
After "observing" this module for over a year now, i can´t tell if there is any development at all, or if its existence is even blocking alternative developments.
The documentation is barely unexistant, so users face the fact that their subgroups are books all in a sudden. But it seems that nobody cares much, cause there are hardly any discussions or tips to be found on how to work with this.
The usage statistics for this module show some few hundreds of users, while for og itself there are thousands.
For drupal as prototype framework for social networking sites, a PROPER and user-friendly handling of group-hierachies should be a must.
But this module seems not to be the way.
Das ist ein nützliches Tool, das organische Gruppen um die Möglichkeit von, wie der Name schon sagt: Untergruppen, erweitert.
Im Netz habe ich sogar zufällig eine deutsche Übersetzung gefunden, die besser war als meine holprige selbsterstellte ;-)
Etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig sind die Vererbungseigenschaften:Wenn von den drei Optionen (übergeordnet / nebengeordnet / untergeordnet) keine gewählt ist, werden die Rechte überallhin weitervererbt! Ziemlich lästig, aber zumindest analog dazu, wie sich Drupal normalerweise verhält. So z.B. bei der Anzeige von Blöcken. Wenn keine Rollen angegeben sind, bekommen es alle Rollen zu sehen.
Um in meinem konkreten Fall zu erreichen, dass ein neues Mitglied einer oberen Gruppe nicht automatisch Mitglied aller Untergruppen wird, muss die Option "Verbreitung von Mitgliedern: Übergeordnet" gewählt werden. Das bedeutet wohl, dass jemand der Mitglied einer tieferen Gruppe ist, automatisch Mitglied der Elterngruppe wird - Damit kann ich im konkreten Fall leben. Ganz unterdrücken lässt sich die Vererbung anscheinend nicht.Vielleicht lohnt es sich, der Aussage der Entwickler des Moduls "D5 version - In order to use the 'user propagation' you will have to use the OG dev version" mal etwas tiefer nachzugehen...
Sehr nützlich übrigens auch der Hinweis, wie sich die Anzeige des Untergruppen-Block unterdrücken lässt, wenn es keine Untergruppen gibt.
