Taxonomy Manager would be one of the "must have" modules, if... And thats the catch, it should not break other things. The module now incorporates an option to co-exist with panels, but then loses some of its usefulness.
1st review; Great little utility - I had to create lots of category items where the sub-categories are the same across multiple parent items - this utility to allows you to do that with a click of a button. Was looking at creating a CSV in a spreadsheet using copy and paste then using taxonomy import module but now do not need to.
2nd review; Unfortunately found that this module does not work well when using with taxonomy breadcrumb. Taxonomy terms entered manually show different behaviour to taxonomy terms added with this module. If I use this module then the breadcrumbs show wrong paths. I had to go back to hand code them all :(
Such a simple idea, but beautifully executed. A site with a complicated taxonomy structure will greatly benefit from this module. Another great use is for quickly finding terms in a category with hundreds or thousands of terms. Simple interface, great system.
This module is a somewhat more advanced and versatile version of the taxonomy batch operations module that I like very much. I use this and TBO interchangeably depending on how much I need to move terms around. Mass importing of terms is a real time saver. This module allows you to merge vocabularies, which can be quite handy. One feature I would like to see developed is the ability to work across vocabularies. Having said that, this module is a work of coding genius, and my hat os off to the developer.
Apart from that it breaks the layout a bit (Zen), this tool is invaluable. The native Drupal interface is clumsy, lets face it, and slow. With this module one can mass import taxonomy items and manage them in a desktop application-like way.
I have not found or looked for a solution to maintaining a taxonomy solution. I use a large free tag solution and have to correct allot of little mistakes and discrepancy. This allows me to do it manually. (Boring)
