Module Overview

Drupal.org Excerpt:

This module has been replaced by Wysiwyg API, which (also) integrates the TinyMCE editor with your Drupal site and provides the same functionality. Most (if not all) users should install or migrate to Wysiwyg API instead. This module was the first to integrate Moxiecode's popular TinyMCE WYSIWYG... [More...]

Repalced by "Tiny Tiny MCE" for Drupal6

I loved this for Drupal5, but no maintenance done for almost year on the Drupal6 development version. I was even able to get it work Drupal6 after days of struggle (disable all caching and JavaScript optimization in the performance module) but it is buggy in Drupal6.

All the support activity for a Drupal6 version has moved to a scaled down module called Tiny Tiny MCE.
After testing Tiny Tiny MCE I am converted! I have never had any problems with it. Simple to install and very solid. I now use Tiny Tiny MCE on all my servers.

depreciated

Do not use this module as it is not maintained (no proper Drupal 6 module for tinymce 3). Instead use the wysiwyg integration module which can work with any editor and is very easy to setup.

Abandoned

The Drupal TinyMCE module has been abandoned and is completely replaced by Wysiwyg (API) now.

questionable still in d6

A go-to module in Drupal 5, but I have reservations for its use in Drupal 6 still. Reliability has been questionable in the past, although it is unquestionably a feature-strong module.

WYSIWYG Editor For Drupal

I have played with most of the word-like editors for Drupal, and this is the one I use in production. It includes customisable user profiles, flexible toolbars, the ability to turn rich text editing on and off and a full screen mode.

If you want to allow your users to insert pictures into their posts from their desktops, be sure to add the IMCE module as well.

Great tool

This was a long awaited addition to Drupal, and it's great that this is a widely used and comes bundled with other software like Wordpress. This is a good sign that it is well supported and tested. The Drupal implementation is good as well.

Definitely read the ReadMe (of course you always do) and install TinyMCE Automatic Configuration.

Decent for a WYSIWYG

All in all, this is probably the best wysiwyg for Drupal. From the small sample of sites that I have seen, it is probably the most used as well. It works moderately well for an in-browser editor, but I still end up disabling it by default as I am much more comfortable working directly with the code. For those of you not so familiar or comfortable with code, this is a decent substitute. With a few of its add-on (mainly spell-check) it does provide a nice editor for clients. (For a comparison of D5 WYSIWYG editors, see: http://drupal.org/node/208456 )
